Moving Out Of Miami

Written by my friend Constance Hayden

My husband and I have wanted to get out of Miami for a while. We don’t want to go too far away, but the pace here is just getting too fast for us. We love South Florida, but every year the traffic gets worse, and living here gets harder. Miami is such a different place now than it was when I was growing up. I am going to miss it, but I’m eager to see what our future holds. We have decided that we want to move up to Coral Springs, so now we are looking for a house and doing research. We found a few neighborhoods we like, so we just have to talk to our real estate broker. After that, things should go pretty quickly. My husband is already getting ahead of himself and researching Coral Springs DIRECTV and private schools for the kids. We’re hoping to move within the next three or four months, so wish us luck!

Daughter in environmental club

Guest post from: Constance Rodgers

This year my daughter is in the ninth grade. At the beginning of the school year I told her that she should try to get involved in a few clubs after school so that she could meet people who are interested in the same things as her. I also want her to start building her record of participation so she will get into a decent college. She decided that she wanted to join the environmental club. I have never been very interested in saving the environment. I do not litter or purposely harm the environment, but I have not set a good example for my children in this area either. After her first few meetings with her club, my daughter came home and informed me that we needed to make some changes in her home. I wasn’t about to change everything in our home, but I agreed to start recycling. I also told my daughter that I would go to http://www.ShopElectricityRatesTEXAS.com to find out how I could set up fixed-rate energy for our home. I know that I need to start living greener, and I’m glad my daughter is interested in the environment so she can help me make some changes.

Making Thanksgiving even more special for my family with a parade

Guest post written by David Gorman

I’m all about making our family traditions a little less traditional. Just one of the things that I thought that I would do along those lines is to take my kids on a trip to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in person! As soon as I mentioned it to my kids months ago, they were so excited about it.

When I was online looking through a whole bunch of stuff about booking a hotel and making reservations for our actual Thanksgiving dinner, I ran across the site http://hearingaids.miracle-ear.com/hearing_aids.html. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to get fitted for some hearing aids before the trip.

I know that we’re going to have so much fun at the Thanksgiving parade. We all love watching it on TV anyway so I think that itÕs going to be even more magical when weÕre watching it right there in person. IÕll just have to make sure that we get a good spot on the sidewalk so that the kids can see whatÕs going on. It will definitely be a different view than weÕve seen on TV before!

Cheap Tickets for San Francisco Events

In between trying to change San Francisco for the better everyone should take some time to relax. Whether you choose to see a baseball game or a concert somewhere in the city, finding fun events to attend so you can erase the stress of your day, week, or month is vital to help you overcome all the pressure that you accumulate in your day to day life. But unfortunately, in today’s economy it can be difficult for many people to afford tickets that can be very expensive. It doesn’t matter whether you are looking Avril Lavigne Tickets or for Barry Manilow Tickets, the prospect of seeing either musician can have very detrimental effects on your wallet.

Luckily, the internet does provide ways to find cheaper tickets with a minimal amount of extra effort. There are sites that will either offer you the cheapest tickets possible, or offer you a comparison of the ticket prices by various vendors. Moreover, it doesn’t matter what kind of event you wish to attend. While two concerts were listed above, you could also find Wrigley Field Tickets if you find yourself feeling the need to attend a baseball game. No matter the event, there is never any reason to pay any more for the tickets than you have to.

Or perhaps you’re not sure what event you wish to see, but you do have a specific venue in mind. That will work just as well, as you can search for tickets by location. For instance, you could look for Wells Fargo Center Tickets, or even Mohegan Sun Arena Tickets. So take some time off from fixing San Francisco and go enjoy yourself,  you earned it.

Something of my Own

Guest post from: Natalie Walter

I knew I wanted to start something of my own but I guess I never imagined it would be a food business. I love the idea of owning my own shop but when it came down to it, how was I going to get it accomplished? I talked to the bank and they miraculously gave me a loan and it was really great of my husband to offer to take some time off work to help me get the actual shop set up. Now I’m the proud owner of a dessert shop right in downtown and I’ve never been happier! I love getting up every morning knowing I’m going to do something I love and I think my employees really like it, too. I have a www.totalalarmsystems.com alarm and I even have a breakroom where everyone can hang out and the best part is that I get to spend all my days cooking which is what I like to do best. I honestly can’t believe I’m actually living out my dream like this!

Why the Castro?

Castro Culture

Castro Culture

San Francisco, the City of Brotherly Love is a well-known destination for gay men. Contrary to belief, there are many straight people in the Bay Area. Some might even argue that other destinations like New York City have a much larger gay population than San Francisco. Ultimately, it depends on which part of the city you’re in.

San Francisco has many areas – the  Sunset District, South of Market, the Haight and of course the San Francisco, Castro Area. Typically when people are referring to the gay population in SF, they are talking about the Castro. Men are most open in this neighborhood, holding hands in leather chaps and rainbow-striped shirts. Often, tourists from more conservative cities and towns around the country will visit the Castro to catch a glimpse of the alternative lifestyle that others lead.

The Castro is certainly a destination full of pride, but it should be noted that it is not the only sight to see in San Fran. This city is a Mecca for cultural activities, fine foods and all-around fun. You don’t even have to be gay to enjoy everything that the city has to offer.

If you do make it to the Castro, be sure to try Frances at 3870 17th Street. The food is delicious and you’ll want to come back the next time you’re in town.

Whild you’re in California, you should also consider heading south to the San Diego Hillcrest Area. It’s a great spot and only a short distance from San Francisco. There you’ll find a number of gay bars that will tickle your fancy during your vacation.

Hot as Hades at the Pool

Thanks to Roman May

I can’t believe how hot it’s gotten. I say that because I’m a lifeguard at the local pool and I’m outside in the sun probably 10 hours on any given day. It’s a great job because it doesn’t require much but I’m always blistered from getting burned and I have to be in a bathing suit all day. I’m starting to get worried about leaving my condo vacant all day long since my roommate is away all summer traveling, so I’ve been reading about security systems at http://www.securitychoice.com/adt-home-security/Florida/S/Satellite-Beach/. We had that bad rash of burglaries last year that scared me, so I think it may be worth the extra expense. My boyfriend, Tom, also works at the pool so it’s fun to get to see him all day. Sometime soon I need to grow up and get a real job but for the time being, lifeguarding is a low stress way to make a few extra bucks during the day. I’d probably be at the pool anyway, so why not get paid???
